3 Children’s Charities That are Making the World a Better Place

3 Children’s Charities That are Making the World a Better Place

May 9, 2016 By Paul Simmons Leave a Comment

Every father wants to give their child the best opportunities they can — especially those that weren’t afforded them as a child. Unfortunately, it’s a sad reality that a lot of children just don’t have the luxury of Dad helping them traverse the rocky road to adulthood.

There are a lot of charitable organizations that step in and help out in such cases, but aside from the really big charities like UNICEF, many of them will likely slip under our radar. Today we’re shining a spotlight on a few smaller charities to which you and your kids can lend a helping hand.

Newborns in Need – Got boxes of clothes your little ones have outgrown? Don’t chuck them in the garbage bin just yet — Newborns in Need accepts everything from blankets, sleepers, and gowns to bottles, pacifiers, and disposable diapers. Donated items will in turn be distributed to hospitals, shelters, and families all across the US.

KaBOOM! – The playfully named KaBOOM! has one mission: to make sure that every kid has a playground in which to have fun. Since being founded in 1996, KaBOOM! has built and renovated over 2,000 playgrounds in the United States. Since the charity puts such an emphasis on the “everybody gets to play” aspect of their mission, KaBOOM! playgrounds are certified child-safe and handicapped accessible.

Unakids – Charity doesn’t have to be local. Children are foremost among those most terribly affected by war and strife. Unakids helps underprivileged children in war-torn nations build a better future for themselves by providing education and medical assistance. It’s a relatively new charity, but they’ve already managed to build a school in Iraq and broke ground on a new clinic in the Armenian capital of Yerevan. The charity which was set up by Unaoil, is actively pushed on all of their social media channels including LinkedIn to raise awareness and funding to support less fortunate children across the world.

Whether you donate money, items, or your time to a charity, it’s a great way to not only help those in need but instill kindness and empathy in your kids. Take the time to look through the many charities out there and pick one you and your child would enjoy helping.
