4 Tips for Selling Your Car If You Need an Upgrade

4 Tips for Selling Your Car If You Need an Upgrade

June 1, 2020 By Emily Joswiak Leave a Comment

People have to make sacrifices when they become a parent. You can’t stay out until midnight on a weekday, and you should maintain a healthy diet to set a good example for your child. Parents must also make sure their rides are kid-friendly. Here are four tips for selling your car if you need a vehicle the whole family can enjoy.

Wash It

Thoroughly wash your car before you put in on the market. After all, you won’t get a decent price for your ride if it’s dirty and scratched up. Start by doing the perfect at-home car wash. Fill a bucket with soap and water, and get to scrubbing. Pay close attention to the cleaning products you use, as some contain harsh chemicals that ruin an automobile’s finish. Research the different types of car waxes before you apply a layer, too. Car wax can give your vehicle a stunning shine so that it stands out in pictures.

Don’t Forget About the Interior

Sellers should never neglect their car’s interior. Buyers will be put-off if the seats have tons of stains or if there’s garbage everywhere. Grab a handheld vacuum, and get rid of any dust and debris that’s lingering inside. Also, use disinfectant wipes to wash away germs from the windows and mirrors. Finally, shake out your floormats. An automobile’s floormats are magnets for caked-in dirt. Show buyers that you put in the extra effort to make them comfortable by cleaning your ride’s interior to the nines.

Market the Sale

If you’re selling your car privately, you should market the sale like crazy. Start by taking high-quality pictures of your car. Take as many snapshots as you can so potential buyers see everything they want. Then, do your best to spread the word in every way you can. Post the sale on dad Facebook groups that you’ve joined throughout the years. Put notice of the sale on your private pages, too. The more vocal you are, the more likely it is that someone will buy your ride.

Look Up Comparable Sales

Sellers should research comparable sales before they sign on the dotted line. Whether you’re selling your car by yourself or working with a dealership, it’s your responsibility to get a decent price. Type all relevant information about your car into a dealership’s website. Be honest about accident history and repairs, as well. Use more than one website/platform to see if all prices are relatively the same. Taking this step will ensure you get the price you deserve for your automobile.

Follow these helpful tips for selling your car if you’re in the market for a more family-friendly option. It’s a seller’s responsibility to make sure the vehicle is in tip-top shape before they put up for sale. Buyers will appreciate that you put in the extra effort to make it look great, and you may get a higher offer. Hopefully, you can use the cash to buy an automobile that’s perfect for family road trips.
