How To Make Your Next Family Camping Trip a Memorable One

How To Make Your Next Family Camping Trip a Memorable One

September 2, 2021 By Fatherhood Factor Team Leave a Comment

A lot goes into planning a camping trip for the whole family, and if you want it to be one that you’ll remember for years to come, there are certain things you’ll want to do. Of course, some of them are more basic than others, but continue reading to learn how to make your next family camping trip a memorable one.

Go Somewhere New

If your family is the outdoorsy type, this likely isn’t your first rodeo. That means you’re all ready for the camping trip and have a good idea of how things will go. However, that complacency is the very thing that makes a trip forgettable. You need to change things up, and the best way to do that is by going somewhere you’ve never been before.

That doesn’t mean you need to travel halfway across the country, but you can go someplace nearby that you’ve never experienced during a past trip. You’ll have all-new sights and encounters to take in, giving you and your family hours of fun.

Bring Some Fun Toys Along

In the same way that an old location keeps things forgettable, so does the stuff you take with you. If you bring the toys that your kids play with every day, it’s going to feel like any other day playing outside at home.

Get creative. Toys like marshmallow shooters, glow-in-the-dark frisbees, and a Spikeball set are excellent options for some family fun. If your kids are older, maybe a telescope or a bow and arrow will be better options for making it an unforgettable trip. You know your children best, so be sure to make your decision with them in mind.

Leave the Camera at Home

Yes, your camera is a part of your phone, so you have to bring it—we meant this metaphorically. People who spend most of their time taking pictures to help them remember the trip often spend less time experiencing the sites. The best memories are the ones you actually recall anyway because a photo can only show so much. Obviously, it’s okay to take a few. Just don’t overuse it.

Take Safety Into Consideration

When figuring out how to make your next family camping trip a memorable one, the goal is to fill the trip with good memories. If little Jimmy burns himself by touching the campfire, it doesn’t matter how much fun you had; everyone will want to try to forget the whole trip. That’s why you need to set up some guidelines for your kids to follow to prevent accidents whenever possible.

Forget Your Worries for the Weekend

It’s impossible to enjoy where you are and what you’re doing if you’re worried about work or any other stressors in your life. Leave all of that back at home and focus on what’s in front of you. Sure, it’ll all be there when you get back, but during this camping trip, you should focus on having a great time with your family.
