Man Cave

How to Create a Man Cave Home Office that Will Boost Your Productivity

June 17, 2019 By Sarah Smith Leave a Comment

Although they achieve the same results, men and women take different approaches toward work. First and foremost, these changes are spatial in character, as men have a tendency to work out of creative chaos, don’t they? While a typical man cave office can be depicted as a chaotic place, there are rules to it. What is more, the unique décor of such a home office has the potential to boost productivity, which is the ultimate goal of any office space, including the one inside your home. Using the following simple décor solution you too can benefit from turning the home office you work in into a man cave!

The right color palette

Although productivity doesn’t have a color of its own, there are certain colors that are more favorable than others. For instance, bright and tacky hues are not welcome, so colors like green, yellow, orange, and pink should not make their way into the man cave office. Instead, you should opt for darker shades such as black, grey, and metallic. Brown and white are in this sense considered neutral so you could moderately incorporate these colors as well. The palette we have described here is best applied to the chairs (and especially their legs), the work desk, the walls, and any possible shelving. The rest of the office supplies can serve as pieces that will contrast these darker, somber tones.

A room with a view

A man cave might contain the word “cave” in its name but there is nothing cave-like to this concept. Quite the opposite, a man cave office should be open to the outside and contain a lot of natural light so essential to any office environment. If the house you live in is located in the countryside use the rustic setting to the fullest. Place the desk in front of the window so you could enjoy a pastoral view while you work. On the other hand, if you live in an apartment, it too can have a view. The higher you are, the better the view will get so install large windows to make you feel as if you were in a glass dome high above the clouds.

Blending the curtains in

Speaking of the windows, they are not complete until you decorate them from the inside. You see, a plain window frame will do little to enhance the décor of the home office and it will make it look like it’s inside an office building. What your man cave needs are some swag curtains as made by Oztech in order to conceal fixtures such as blinds or curtain rods. The best thing about swag curtains is that you get to choose their colors and décor so they can be matched to the rest of the home office. Whether you go for a more modern industrial design inside your man cave or you decide to the old-fashioned antique interiors, swags will fit into both.

“Anything to drink, partner?”

A man cave could hardly be called so were it not for the booze stashed away somewhere. Surprisingly enough, the home office should also feature some sort of a minibar not because you are thirsty for alcohol but because you are likely to have clients coming over. The fact that you are working from the comfort of your house doesn’t mean that you won’t receive any business-related visits from time to time. In order to be ready to dazzle your business partners, ice-cold Scotch whiskey and beer near at hand are never a bad idea.

If you decide to create a minibar area, then a bar coupled with stools would be a nice addition to the room the man cave is located in. Furthermore, you could have a leather sofa and armchairs for people to relax in while sipping their beverages. In the end, do we need to remind you that an AC unit is mandatory?

A touch of greenery

It seems highly inappropriate that a man cave contained flowers but there are so many benefits to plants in the office that you must have at least one pot. If you are worried that you’ll forget to water them regularly and they will dry out, then get some succulent plants like cacti. Apart from regular watering, plants are going to need a whole lot of sunshine, so place them on the desk near the window or on the window sill itself. This way, you will constantly be reminded they need watering. Finally, if you want more from the plant life inside the office, plant a lemon tree, for example. Once ripe lemons start appearing you can serve them with the vodka you had stashed in the aforementioned minibar.

A man cave design of your home office is not so hard to attain after all. Once you install swag curtains, the minibar, and throw in a potted plant or two, you are ready to boost productivity working from the comfort of your home.
